This Friday, October 9th will be the sixth annual Philly Photo Day!
Organized by the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, PPD is a way to engage people in Philly, (and new this year the Greater Philadelphia Area, which includes 11 counties in 3 states), in the act of picture-taking. Everyone is encouraged to shoot and upload one image from the day to the PPAC website by the October 14th deadline. All images that are submitted will be printed and shown in an exhibition that opens on November 12th. Three will be selected to grace SEPTA platforms throughout the region.
What makes Philly Photo Day extra special is that PPAC goes the extra mile and organizes free, three-hour, hands-on workshops at community centers throughout the area in an effort to educate and engage.
With PPD on the 9th and the upload deadline on the 15th, there is plenty of time to shoot film, make cyanotypes, shoot Polaroids, or utilize other types of traditional photography! If you need need help processing film, we’d be happy to recommend Indie Photo Lab.
