The Light Gallery, located in Marleston, South Australia, is currently showing Immaculate Projections: Redux at 25. Originally exhibited in Australia, the U.S., and Europe in 1991, the installation was created by “projecting images of Blake’s family and friends onto icons and portraits from fine art and photography’s masters.” Seeking to subvert the privileged position of high art when he originally created the work, Blake recognizes that it still has relevance and impact today.
Of special interest to Philadelphia locals: Most of the work in Immaculate Projections was created when Blake was living in Philly, where he served as Department Chair of photography at the Art Institute of Philadelphia.
