From May 12th through July 8th, Edwynn Houk Gallery in New York City will be showing work by seminal fashion photographer Lillian Bassman. Shooting for Harper’s Bazaar from the 1940s through 1960s, Bassman introduced a new aesthetic to fashion photography by employing unusual composition and shooting techniques, and darkroom practices such as bleaching and toning, to “illustrate the mystery and glamour of the modern woman.”
There will be an opening reception on May 12th from 6 – 8 PM
