“California and the West: Photography from the Campaign for Art” on view at SFMOMA through September 5th

If a trip to San Francisco is on your summer itinerary, make sure to catch California and the West: Photography from the Campaign for Art at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.  Tapping into the museum’s collection and promised gifts, California and the West features images that “depict wild nature as a spiritual resource, illustrate how land here has been used over time, and explore diverging photographic approaches, from evocation to documentation to self-conscious art making.”  Some of the photographers whose images are on view include: Ansel Adams, Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Lewis Baltz, Imogen Cunningham, Lee Friedlander, Dorothea Lange,Ed Ruscha, Larry Sultan, Edward Weston, and Minor White.
