The Rubenstein Photography Gallery at Duke University has Manifest by Wendel White on view through June 3rd. The project consists of “photographic representations of objects, documents, photographs, and books pertaining to slave culture and African American history held in various public collections throughout the U.S.” White is interested in the “residual power of the past to inhabit these material remains. The ability of objects to transcend lives, centuries, and millennia, suggests a remarkable mechanism for folding time.”
