The Halide Project was founded in 2015 to support the continued practice and appreciation of historic and alternative photographic processes. Based in Philadelphia, The Halide Project serves local and global communities by providing exhibition opportunities, educational programming, and other resources. We enthusiastically invite practitioners of chemistry-based photography from around the world to submit work to be considered for Living Image 2025/2026 as a means to share their work with others and connect with like-minded artists.
Juror Bio:
Stig Marlon Weston is based in Oslo, Norway. As the founder and director of the CYAN studio community darkroom, he initiated the Nordic Analog Network of community darkrooms, running a program of artist residencies that will result in an exhibition of contemporary Nordic analogue photography in 2025. Weston has curated more than two hundred exhibitions at the CYAN studio gallery, as well as for the Oslo Negativ Photo Festival. He has juried national photo competitions and diverse photo festivals including the Helsinki HelPhoto and Zrno Macedonian festival of analog photography.
In his own artistic career, Weston exhibits with galleries and festivals locally and internationally. Focusing on process-based and conceptual photography, he seeks to expand the idea of landscape photography in order to encourage the viewer to reflect on what they expect to see and understand in a photograph compared to what is actually there.
His work is in the collection of the Preus National Museum of photography in Norway, he published the photobook More Somehow as a collaborative project with US photographer Meggan Gould, and runs workshops at several different photo festivals in Europe.
