Platinum/Palladium Printing

An in-person workshop with John Joyce

Saturday, March 21 10 am - 5 pm
Sunday, March 22 10 am - 5 pm

Platinum/Palladium Printing

This workshop, suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners, will provide students the opportunity to print in the platinum/palladium process. Because of its ability to render a vast tonal range, impart depth and detail in shadows, and provide archival stability, platinum/palladium is the most esteemed of the alternative processes. Students will be introduced to the history of the process, view notable examples, and learn through demonstration and the making of prints.

Paper and chemistry will be provided by The Halide Project.

* Please note that this workshop is open to those interested in working from either film or digital negatives.

For those working in film, please bring long tonal range medium and large format negatives that are high in contrast.

For those interested in working from digital negatives, you’ll be asked to provide four digital files in advance that will be made into negatives for class.   (A $35 fee for the four digital negatives will be an add-on at check out.)
